There is 5.0-5.5″ of comfort material followed by 8″ pocketed coils and then a thinner support foam at the base. On the inside of each of these Winkbeds is essentially the same makeup. They are all hybrids that use a blend of poly foam, support foam, and pocketed coils. The design of all of these Winkbed mattresses is pretty consistent. During the cooling tests I did not notice any major heat retention or cooling issues. The hybrid combination of the pocketed coils as well as the breathable foam made these mattresses comfortable to lie on. We have not yet tested the Winkbed firm, so we don’t have as much comparative data for that mattress. This comparison is best on our tests of the Winkbed soft, Winkbed luxury firm, and Winkbed Plus. These results make the Winkbed Luxury Firm our overall winner. The soft mattress won or tied in 5 categories, with a standout performance for the most sinkage. The Winkbed Plus won or tied in 4 categories including best cooling, slowest response, least bounce, and best pressure relief. Lastly, the Winkbed Plus is ideal for heavier body types over 300 pounds. The firm Winkbed is better for back and stomach sleeper, but especially if you’re over 250 pounds. Works great for all but the heaviest body types and all sleeping positions. If you’re just looking for a balanced, medium feel, this is it. The Winkbed Luxury firm is a well balanced mattress suitable to the needs of most sleepers. The Winkbed soft is best for lighter weight sleepers, but especially lightweight side sleepers. Edge support was fantastic on the Luxury Firm and the Plus, but a little worse on the Winkbed Soft (likely due to the softer feel). The Winkbed Luxury Firm has very low motion transfer, while the WinkBed Soft and Plus were a bit higher. They offer excellent cooling, fast response time, excellent pressure relief, and fast off-gassing. Each of these Winkbed mattresses are high-quality options with fantastic scores in our performance tests.
